The Senate Foreign Relations Committee held a hearing yesterday to consider the nomination of Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) to be secretary of state. In her opening testimony, Sen. Clinton vowed to renew U.S. leadership through a "smart power" combination of diplomacy and defense.
There does not seem to be a full recorded video of the hearing from msnbc that I can repost, although some 10 minute segments have been posted elsewhere. If you want to see the whole hearing, you can go to the C-Span page here where you can watch online the morning and afternoon proceedings.
Here is Senator Clinton’s testimony and here is Senator Lugar’s statement, both have now been posted at the SFRC website and will open as pdf files. You can also read Senator Kerry’s opening statement here.
