Image via WikipediaOn June 25, President Obama announced his intent to nominate Alejandro D. Wolff to be Ambassador to the Republic of Chile. The WH released the following brief bio:
Alex Wolff is currently Ambassador and Deputy Representative of the U.S. to the United Nations, a position he has held since December 2005. He is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service. Ambassador Wolff joined the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer in 1979. He served as the Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Paris, France. His assignments in Washington include tours on the Policy Planning Staff; in the Office of Soviet Union Affairs; in the Office of the Under Secretary for Political Affairs; as Deputy Executive Secretary of the State Department; and as the Executive Assistant to Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell. Ambassador Wolff has also served overseas in Algeria, Morocco, Chile, Cyprus and the U.S. Mission to the EU in Brussels. Ambassador Wolff is the recipient of the State Department’s Distinguished, Superior, and Meritorious Honor Awards.
He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1978 from the University of California at Los Angeles.
