SFRC Clears Nominations of Krol, Shapiro, Ensher, Jones; USAID's Rudman and OPIC and Public Diplomacy Commission nominees

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee cleared the following executive nominations on May 17, 2011.  Nominations will now go to the Senate for the full vote.

DEPARTMENT OF STATE

George Albert Krol, of New Jersey, a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Minister-Counselor, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Daniel Benjamin Shapiro, of Illinois, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Israel.

Henry S. Ensher, of California, a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Counselor, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

Stuart E. Jones, of Virginia, a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Minister-Counselor, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

UNITED STATES AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Mara E. Rudman, of Massachusetts, to be an Assistant Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, vice Sean R. Mulvaney.

OVERSEAS PRIVATE INVESTMENT CORPORATION

James A. Torrey, of Connecticut, to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation for a term expiring December 17, 2013, vice Dianne I. Moss, term expired.

Matthew Maxwell Taylor Kennedy, of California, to be a Member of the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation for a term expiring December 17, 2012, vice Samuel E. Ebbesen, term expired.

UNITED STATES ADVISORY COMMISSION ON PUBLIC DIPLOMACY

Sim Farar, of California, to be a Member of the United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy for a term expiring July 1, 2012, vice John E. Osborn, term expired.

William J. Hybl, of Colorado, to be a Member of the United States Advisory Commission on Public Diplomacy for a term expiring July 1, 2012. (Reappointment)
